Ivey Business School and The Nanyang Business School Partnership

In 2000, the Richard Ivey School of Business in Canada (Ivey) and The Nanyang Business School (NBS) in Singapore launched a major collaboration to promote Case Study Teaching and Writing in Singapore and Southeast Asia.

The collaboration was made possible by The Lee Foundation, a major philanthropic organization in Singapore. Over the next five years, The Lee Foundation's support enabled Ivey to build synergy with NBS, in developing and promoting business case studies in Singapore and in South East Asia.

Key components of the collaboration:

  • Appointment of a joint professorship to develop the collaboration between Nanyang and Ivey, and to promote the case teaching and research in NBS.
  • Case workshops will be conducted at the newly launched Asian Business Case Centre set up at the Nanyang Business School. The Centre will promote case study teaching and writing as a means of researching business issues, organizations and personalities in Asia, and the centre will seek out strategic partners to support these goals.
  • Appointment of a case writer, based in Singapore, to research and publish business cases on Southeast Asia.
  • Unlimited access to Ivey case resources for the business schools of Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore and Singapore Management University, with the Nanyang Business School managing the infrastructure to support their use.

"Ivey has, over the last 10 years, built up considerable expertise and knowledge in the area of management case study teaching and development and is the world's largest producer of current Asia-Pacific case studies," said Dean Neo at the agreement signing ceremony in Singapore. "We have set up the Asian Business Case Center at the Nanyang Business School to promote the teaching, writing of, and learning through case studies about business issues, organizations and personalities in Asia. This strategic collaboration with Ivey will enable the Centre to benefit from the intellectual capital of Ivey in this area."
