Workshop Report

Final Report

The Developing Sustainable Energy Policy Workshop that took place on October 22-24, 2006 brought together many of the best and brightest minds on sustainable development, energy and global warming in Canada - an extraordinary assembly of over 140 business executives, scientists, academics, government policymakers, consultants, energy experts, students and non-governmental organization leaders.

This report outlines their key recommendations and provides a summary of their discussions at the workshop. We are hopeful that their contributions will benefit all Canadians by assisting the Government of Canada, the Government of Ontario and municipalities to develop informed public policy that meets the challenges of this country’s fast-changing energy, environmental, climate, economic and social realities.

We look forward to presenting the workshop’s findings, ideas and recommendations to political leaders and government policymakers, and are committed to offering continued support for their greenhouse gas reduction efforts.
