Cross-Enterprise LeadershipTM
In 2006, the Richard Ivey School of Business embarked upon a new approach to management education called Cross-Enterprise Leadership™.

The objective of Cross-Enterprise Leadership is to provide graduates with the skill and capacity to predict, analyze, strategize and act upon issues that span the entire enterprise, such as globalization, competition, productivity and innovation. It is a marked departure from the traditional approach to management education, which emphasizes the teaching of functional disciplines (e.g. finance, accounting, marketing, and strategy) and matrix management (project-driven assignments).

The School’s decision to embrace a new approach to management education was in response to extensive consultations with alumni and stakeholders, who constitute an important segment of the global business community, on their specific and evolving needs. The transformation impacts all facets of the School, including its programs (MBA, EMBA, HBA, and Executive Education), research, and organization.

The MBA is the first program to fully reflect the School’s new approach to management education. Ivey now offers a one-year format, which is already the norm in many parts of Europe and is offered by highly regarded business schools such as INSEAD and IMD. There are two MBA cohorts per year, commencing in May and October.

Ivey’s renowned case study method continues to play a central role in the curriculum. New cross-enterprise cases, developed specifically for the Ivey program, expose students to current issues and help them build frameworks for cross-enterprise thinking, action, and leadership. Our real-time cases help students to make sense of current issues and challenges facing executives.  [more about CEL]
