IVEY INTOUCH MAGAZINE - SPRING 2012

In the latest edition of Intouch magazine, we talk to alumni in advertising who are thriving in the age of Twitter. Also, meet eight entrepreneurs from all ages and stages who demonstrate one thing remains clear: once an entrepreneur, always an entrepreneur! And as usual, Class Notes is bursting with news from near and far.

New spouse? Baby? Home? Career? Planning a reunion? Let your classmates know what you are up to in the Summer 2012 edition coming out in late July. The next deadline for Class Notes is May 22, 2012. Submit your Class Notes (and photos!) online.

Andrew Perkins explores the unconscious mind to discover how consumers make choices

When trying to predict people's behaviour, the hidden or "unconscious" processes are rather telling. The research of Ivey Assistant Professor Andrew Perkins looks at how unconscious processes influence consumer behaviour and are linked with branding.  More

"The research literature shows that most acquisitions fail to develop the
kind of value the buyer hoped to create, and in fact most acquisitions fail to
create any meaningful value for shareholders."

Assistant Professor Brian Anderson, The Globe and Mail, April 13

"It's a lot more complicated than a unidirectional approach.  Our programs
have to try to 'unpack' what it means to develop business models
that address all three aspects. All of them have to be fed into
your business case - whether it's growing revenues, reducing costs,
energy optimization or improving service management."

Professor Rob Klassen, National Post, March 27
