China Casebook Series

Professor Paul Beamish, Director of the Asian Management Institute (right) presented the largest collection of business casebooks produced for China to Zhu Rongji, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China (left). The former Premier, who served as Dean of the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University, received the casebooks during his official visit to Toronto, Canada in April 1999.

In the Summer of 1998, AMI embarked on a project with Multi-Lingua Publishing International Inc. / China Machine Press / Huazhang Graphics Company in presenting "A Total Solution for Management Education Material in China". Ivey, in collaboration with Tsinghua University in Beijing, compiled 16 casebooks to directly correspond to each of the required courses in China?s MBA programs. This was in direct response to the requirement established by the State Education Commission of China for teaching 25% of the MBA curriculum via the case method.

In 1999, an expanded set of 16 Ivey casebooks, in total 219 cases in Chinese, were published. In 2001, Ivey continued with a new phase of translated casebooks for China adding new topics: E-Commerce, International Entrepreneurship, and Organizational Behaviour.

The China Casebook Series is available in major book stores throughout China. All of the cases are accompanied by teaching notes which are available to qualified instructors in a comprehensive manual from the publisher.
