Building Sustainable Value

February 23, 2010 - The Centre for Building Sustainable Value has partnered with Canadian Business for Social Responsibility and the Network for Business Sustainability to host a workshop for senior executives on embedding sustainability in corporate cultures. The workshop will be held at the Ivey ING Leadership Centre in Toronto. Participants will develop a framework for building cultures of sustainability and identify best practices and key challenges. Tima Bansal will be moderating the workshop.

February 9, 2010 - The BSV is welcoming Farouk Jiwa, Social Entrepreneur, Senior Ashoka Fellow & Senior Regional Technical Advisor, Economic Development Unit, CARE USA. Farouk Jiwa will provide an interactive bootcamp on social enterprise, drawing on his work with CARE Canada and CARE USA, his entrepreneurial experience, and his close collaborations with many social entrepreneurs and difference makers.

February 4, 2010 - Eric Gales, President of Microsoft Canada, spoke to the Ivey community about his vision and leadership within this exciting company.

February 2, 2010 - The BSV Centre, in partnership with SAP, is seeking to hire students for a unique opportunity to write case studies on nominees for the inaugural Sustainability in Business Award. Deadline to apply is February 10th, 2010.

February 1, 2010 - The BSV Centre would like to announce three Fellows of the Centre for 2010/11: Oana Branzei, Allison Johnson, and Fredrik Odegaard. They will be awarded $2500 each to support their academic pursuits. Each has contributed substantially to raise the profile of the school.

January 27, 2010 - "Making the big green leap": Tima Bansal took questions about sustainability and business on the Globe and Mail website.

January 2010 - The Centre for Building Sustainable Value is partnering with SAP (Business Management Software) to deliver the first annual Business Sustainability Awards. Canadian companies will be recognized for the valuable work they are undertaking in sustainability. 

October 22-27, 2009 - PhD Sustainability Academy: The PhD Sustainability Academy brings together 15 top PhD students researching sustainability with world-class academic and senior business leaders. The goal is to offer an experientially rich environment to help nurture and advance PhD students’ academic thinking and teaching capabilities.

October 8th, 2009 - The BSV Centre, in partnership with the Environment and Sustainability Program at UWO, hosted an Interdisciplinary Luncheon focusing on "Society's Impact on the Natural Ecosystem". Speakers from across departments at UWO shared their knowledge and research with the audience.
