Cross-Enterprise Fellowship Awarded to Claus
Rerup
Simon Parker is
delighted to affirm the appointment of
Claus Rerup as a Cross-Enterprise
Leadership Fellow of the Entrepreneurship &
Innovation Research Centre.
Claus' work,
which explores how new organizations unfold over
time, has been published in Tier 1 research
journals. Claus has incorporated the learning
from this research into the writing of a case
that explores the issues of start-up and growth
based on the research context.
Claus is
currently developing a theory (under review) of
organizational deviance that will help us to
better understand how entrepreneurs use learning
to manage the tension between institutional
deviance and compliance in entrepreneurial
organizations. Claus is finding that learning
and mindfulness influence how entrepreneurs
select which scripts they enact and which
routines and practices they create to manage
this tension.
Future work by
Claus will explore whether entrepreneurial
mindful organizations (EMOs) use the same
infrastructure to spot rare threats and rare
opportunities. The hope of this research is to
identify the mundane practices that
entrepreneurs actually use when they look for
emerging threats and opportunities in order to
create a better understanding of the skills,
discipline and attitudes entrepreneurs enact to
spot rare threats and opportunities in the
business environment.
