Engaging Emerging Markets Student Activities

International Study Trips

To complement classroom activities with direct, on-the-ground exposure, Ivey has operated study trips for MBA and EMBA students to emerging markets led by Ivey faculty for many years. The most frequently visited emerging countries have been in Asia (especially China and India), Latin America, and Eastern Europe.

The Ivey HBA and MSc programs also offer every student the opportunity for international experience. There are study trips to Israel, India and China; and students can gain international experience by going on exchange to one of a number of universities around the world. "In an increasingly global economy there is a need for business leaders with a global perspective," said Professor David Sharp.

PhD Global Teaching Project (GTP)

Fall 2005 marked the beginning of the Global Teaching Project, an Ivey PhD student initiative. The project started from a desire on the part of Ivey doctoral candidates to contribute to business education in emerging markets around the world, and to acquire teaching experience in the process. The project sends a number of PhD student volunteers to specified universities in emerging markets to teach business courses such as  Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Global Strategy. Teaching is via the Ivey case method.
