About Event
Join Rahaf Harfoush, HBA '06, a social media strategist, author, speaker, and former member of U.S. President Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign, which took social media to a new level, for a discussion on how social media is changing the way we communicate and what that means for business.
Harfoush will share insights from experiences in her own career, including the Obama campaign, and the World Economic Forum in Geneva where she identified disruptive start-ups that were using technology to improve the state of the world.
About the Speaker
Rahaf Harfoush is a digital strategist, author and speaker who has a deep passion for exploring how technology is affecting the way we communicate, work and play. She specializes in helping organizations align their digital media initiatives with their strategic vision to build authentic relationships with consumers, employees and other stakeholders.
She was a member of Barack Obama’s presidential campaign new media team and her first book, Yes We Did: An Insider’s Look at How Social Media Built the Obama Brand, reveals insights from those experiences. She is currently working on her second book (tentatively) titled ArchiTechs: How to Work, Govern & Learn in a Hyper-Connected World.
Harfoush is the co-founder of Red Thread Inc., a consulting agency that provides clients with out-of-the-box thinking to tackle strategic challenges, and co-founder of Emerging Women, a non-profit organization that curates global events to strengthen local and global support systems for women entrepreneurs in emerging economies.
Formerly, she was the Associate Director of Technology Pioneers at the World Economic Forum in Geneva, Switzerland where she identified disruptive start-ups that were using technology to improve the state of the world.
In 2010, Harfoush participated in an Ivey Idea Forum called Harnessing the Power of Social Media:The Changing Landscape of Communication. Watch a video clip from that event.
About the Lecture series
The Gilbert and Margaret Clarke Lecture in Marketing was established through a generous bequest from Margaret Clarke to promote research and education in marketing, to honour her late husband Gilbert Clarke, HBA ’33, and his outstanding business career.
