Join Dean Carol Stephenson in a presentation and dialogue with David Emerson, whose insights on developing international markets amid game-changing, economic and political upheaval signal  the need for a new model of competitive leadership. Mr. Emerson will discuss how Canada’s new high-level connections with growing emerging world powers, such as China and India, will have a significant impact on Canada’s future international business relationships, stature and profile, and the opportunities that brings.

About Speaker

David Emerson

David Emerson, a member of the Queen’s Privy Council, is a former politician, banker, businessperson, and economist. His business experience includes roles as President and CEO of the Western & Pacific Bank of Canada (a predecessor of Canadian Western Bank) and President and CEO of Canfor Corporation, one of British Columbia’s largest forestry companies. He has also served in various ministerial roles in the federal government, with experience tackling free trade complications and having struck a trade agreement between Canada and the European Free Trade Association giving Canadian companies preferential access to key markets. Mr. Emerson is currently part of a government-appointed panel, the Premier’s Council for Economic Strategy, that is tasked with creating a blueprint for Alberta’s economy for the next 30 years.
