David Sparling: Faculty DirectorDavid is a Professor and the Chair in Agri-Food Innovation and Regulation at the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario. Before joining Ivey, David was a professor at the University of Guelph where he served as an Associate Dean and Executive Director of the Institute of Agri-Food Policy Innovation. David was a senior Associate at the University of Melbourne and has taught at the Australian Graduate School of Management. David has been president of farming company, an agribusiness insurance company and a biotechnology start-up. His research interests are in innovation, new technology, value chains and agri-food policy. He is actively involved in shaping agri-food industry strategies and government policy. David has made more that 200 presentations to audiences around the world and over 200 appearances in the media. |

Tima BansalIn addition to being a professor of General Management at the Richard Ivey School of Business, Tima Bansal is the Director of the Cross-Enterprise Leadership Centre on Building Sustainable Value and the Executive Director of the Network for Business Sustainability. She has published over 25 peer-reviewed articles, co-edited four books and her work has been cited by the popular press including: The Wall Street Journal, The National Post, The Globe and Mail and The Independent. Before joining Ivey in June 1999, she received her doctorate from the University of Oxford and taught at Georgia State University in Atlanta. Since 1999, she has successfully raised over $5million in government grants. In 2002, she was the recipient of the teaching innovation fellowship and in 2008, the Aspen Institute’s Faculty Pioneer award in Academic Leadership and the title of The University of Western Ontario‘s Faculty Scholar were added to her considerable list of awards. |

Jeffrey GandzJeffrey Gandz is Professor of Strategic Leadership and Managing Director, Program Design – Executive Development. Dr. Gandz designs and delivers leadership development programs for organizations in Canada and internationally. He has consulted with and developed executive development programs and strategic retreats for many organizations including: Toronto Dominion Bank Financial Group, Ontario Power Generation, Hutchison Ports Holdings, Mattel, Colliers International, HSBC, and Manulife Financial, as well as, governments in Canada and Hong Kong. His research focuses on developing leadership competencies, character and commitment in next generation leaders. He is the author of six books, the most recent being Leadership on Trial: A manifesto for leadership development, many journal and magazine articles and more than 100 case studies used in corporate and business school programs around the world. Dr. Gandz is a member of the boards of directors of Maple Leaf Foods Inc. and Canadian Medical Association Holdings Inc. |
Ariff KachraAriff Kachra is Assistant Professor of Strategy and General Management. In his first year at Richard Ivey School of Business, Dr. Kachra was the recipient of the David G. Burgoyne award for teaching excellence. Dr. Kachra has served as the Academic Director of the Ivey Consulting Program, HBA and has recently been appointed Ivey’s Director of India Development. Ariff teaches in Ivey’s HBA and MBA programs. Prior to joining Ivey, he taught Strategy to MBA and Executive MBA students at Pepperdine's Graziadio School of Business and Management in California. During his 7-year career at Pepperdine, Professor Kachra was the recipient of multiple teaching awards and served as the Academic Director of the MBA program. Professor Kachra started his academic career at the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa, where he also earned his BBA and International MBA degrees. He holds a Ph.D. from the Richard Ivey School of Business. In addition to teaching in the US and Canada, Ariff has also recently taught at the Indian School of Business (ISB), ranked #15 among the top 100 global schools. |
