Profile

Joe Compeau is a Lecturer in Information Systems at the Richard Ivey School of Business. His interests relate to the adoption and implementation of new information and communication technologies. Predicated on the idea that new technologies not only support existing strategies, but also can be a powerful source of emerging strategies, Joe's aim is to help organizations and individuals identify opportunities that new technologies provide. He currently teaches Information Systems in the HBA and EMBA Programs.

Joe holds an undergraduate degree from UWO and a business degree (EMBA) from Ivey. Prior to joining Ivey's faculty, he taught at Queen's University, the University of Calgary and at Carleton University (in Ottawa). Joe has been teaching at the university level since 1995. He has worked as a private consultant mostly to SME market and with a number of start-ups, focusing on the strategic use of IS and the training and adoption of new technologies. Joe has also worked with the Certified General Accountants' Association of Canada to prepare and update the Information Systems Curriculum for their professional accounting students.
