Profile

Niels Billou is Assistant Professor in the General Management Area Group. He holds an Honours BA (Dean's List) and MBA (Dean's List) from the Richard Ivey School of Business. Niels received his doctoral training at London Business School, where he was the only PhD candidate to win the Outstanding Contribution Award.

Niels is an experienced, multiple award-winning international educator, having designed and delivered courses on entrepreneurship, innovation, design thinking, and international strategy to top executives from leading multinationals around the world as well as graduates and undergraduates from premier global business schools.

Niels is passionate about entrepreneurship and innovation in variety of contexts, including emerging markets and the social sector. He has been on the founding team of two educational start-ups and has advised numerous new and established businesses on pursuing and realizing innovative opportunities.

Niels has won several grants to pursue his research interests; he recently conducted a multi-country study of innovative business models at the base of the economic pyramid. His work has been published in a range of prestigious books and journals and presented at numerous prominent international conferences.

In his spare time, Niels enjoys learning from his 8 year old son, watching foreign films, and discovering international cuisine.
