Participate in Events

Ivey HBA students participate in a number of events throughout both years of the program.

Ivey Leadership Day Case Competition

This one-day internal case competition is targeted to HBA students in their final year and is an opportunity for students to analyze and present one strategy case to a judging panel comprised of senior Ivey alumni and Ivey Faculty. This case competition is an excellent avenue for students to showcase the skills they have built in their first year at Ivey and allows students the chance to network with industry professionals.

Boston Consulting Group (BCG) Internal Case Competition

This three-day event is intended for HBA students in their first year at Ivey and is sponsored by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), an international management consulting firm. Faculty, senior HBA students, Ivey alumni, and visiting representatives from BCG all take part in this initiative and act as judges for the competition.

Scotiabank International Case Competition (SICC)

This annual, four-day case competition is a long standing tradition of the school and is now in its 31st year. Each year teams from top-ranked undergraduate schools from across the globe come to Ivey to compete. The SICC offers business students from around the world a practical opportunity to put their skills and expertise to the test, as well as the chance for the visiting participants and Ivey students to learn from each other what business and life is like in other countries.

Ivey Leaders Forum

This annual event is a student-run leadership conference, featuring speakers and discussions related to current events in business. Ivey HBA students have great success attracting the best and brightest business leaders to speak at this event.

The Ivey Cup Challenge

Started in 1998 the Ivey Cup is an event that pits the different class sections against each other in a series of fun challenges. The events range from creative team events to "fill your stomach" challenges. Annual events range from the "All You Can Eat Buffet Challenge" to the "Great HBA Scavenger Hunt." Each event has an allotted number of points with special points awarded for exceptional spirit and sportsmanship.

Ivey Idea Forums

The Ivey Idea Forum kicks off each year with an exciting showcase of thought leadership. Featuring high-profile guest speakers on a broad range of business topics, it's the home of big ideas around issues that range from banking in a more regulated world to the war for talent in China. Watch the Ivey Idea Forum website for more details on this season's line up.

The HBAA organizes pivotal social activities like Orientation Week and other gatherings for students.

Ivey Clubs

Ivey students organize a variety of special interest clubs. An excellent way to meet students outside of your section and from other Ivey degree programs, activities include philanthropic events, guest speakers, panel discussions, industry workshops, and more. Each club charges a nominal membership fee to cover expenses (usually $20-40).

Pre-Business Students Network (PBSN)

Western students, many of whom are Ivey AEOs, manage their own club on campus to provide academic, social and developmental support to one another. Find out more about getting involved in PBSN at pbsn.ca

Ivey Business Review

The Ivey Business Review is written, designed and managed exclusively by students at the Richard Ivey School of Business and is the only business magazine or publication of its kind in the country. Each article is created specifically for the magazine and comes from months of collaboration between the writer and members of the Editorial Board. The magazine is published twice per year, in April and December.

HBA Yearbook & Video Yearbook

The HBA yearbook and video yearbook are a great opportunity for students to get involved and create something that will forever spark memories of their years at Ivey.
