Our Mission

Ivey Connects is a student-led organization working to inspire students at the Richard Ivey School of Business to contribute in the societies in which they operate - a vital aspect of the school's mission statement. Ivey students have a wealth of resources that, if harnessed, translate to great potential to effect positive change in the community. Ivey Connects provides opportunities for students to give their time through volunteerism and fundraising efforts, and their talent - management or otherwise - to those in need in the community.
Mandate
Our organization aims to enhance the educational experience of Ivey students in the area of social responsibility, and to advance the social health of the not-for-profit agencies in our community through volunteer efforts. Our mandate is to:
- Harness the talent and energy of Ivey students to make a positive impact on non-profit organizations and the community;
- Develop better business leaders who will contribute to the communities in which they will operate by exposing students to leading for-profit organizations that are responsible members of the community;
- Develop a strong sense of business ethics and community involvement;
- Encourage students to think about sustainable development, corporate social responsibility and community involvement from a business perspective.
Latest Updates
Summer 2012 Internships

Dec. 21, 2011 - The Ivey Connects Community Internship Program is designed to give business students greater awareness of how the community sector operates by giving them an opportunity to work over the summer for a not-for-profit organization in the Toronto or London regions. Toronto internships will be funded by RBC, and London internships will be funded by London Life. NPOs will gain strategic decision-making and implementation, and students will gain practical work experience. The program began in 2005 and has funded 19 London non-profit internships to date. In 2012, the program will expand to give students the opportunity to work in the GTA.

Nov. 19, 2011 - The Children's Aid Society Holiday party was successfully hosted for underprivileged children from the London community in the Ivey staff lounge. HBA1 Parents' Day

Oct. 22, 2011 - Each fall, Ivey welcomes and celebrates with close to 500 HBA parents and first year students to showcase Ivey and the HBA Program. The day consists of mingling with faculty, participating in a case discussion, a welcome reception and special luncheon with a distinguished keynote speaker. This year, Ivey Connects' section representatives carried out creative classroom campaigns to raise awareness of our mission to the parents.
