Dianne
Cunningham, Director, Lawrence National
Centre for Policy and Management
Ms Cunningham
brings to Ivey over 30 years
of experience in education
and government affairs, most
recently as Minister of Training,
Colleges and Universities and
prior to that as Minister
of Intergovernmental Affairs,
Minister with Responsibility for
Women’s Issues, Chair of the
Council of Ministers of Education
– Canada and Member of
Provincial Parliament for the
riding of London North Centre
(1988-2003). A former educator and business
management consultant, she also
served as a school board trustee
and chairperson for the former
London Board of Education
(1973-1988).
The Lawrence National Centre
for Policy and Management,
established in 2001 at the Richard
Ivey School of Business, has a
mandate to be a strong advocate
for sound policy that will
ensure a powerful future for
Canada. The Centre provides
a forum for private sector
corporations, media, academia
to work with government and
actively participate in public
policy issues for the greater
good of the entire country as
a competitor in the global
marketplace.
During her tenure as the
Minister of Training, Colleges and
Universities, Ms. Cunningham
served as Canada’s chair of
delegation at several notable
international conferences,
including: the South East
Asia Ministers of Education
Organization (Thailand) and
the UNESCO-OECD Conference
on Education (Paris). As Chair,
she also took the lead position
at the Conference of Ministers
of Education of the Americas
(Mexico).
As the Director of the Lawrence
National Centre for Policy and
Management, Ms. Cunningham’s
extensive knowledge of both
government and education will
strengthen Ivey’s continuing
leadership position as one of the
world’s top business schools and
help build upon its continuing
efforts to further public policy
research.
