Good leadership is finding the balance between performance and well-being, candour and compassion, collaboration and competition, drive and temperance and between East and West. The Ivey Business School and the Haskayne School of Business are organizing the inaugural Leadership Case Competition (LCC) on February 26, 27 & 28, 2015. The LCC is a collaboration between two leadership institutes, the Ian O. Ihnatowycz Institute for Leadership and the Canadian Centre for Advanced Leadership in Business, who have committed to the development of the next generation of business leaders. The LCC helps to deliver on this objective. Specifically, we will provide:
- Interaction and networking with Canada’s top MBA students and business leaders
- An opportunity to learn from successful organizations and their leaders
- A challenging set of cases featuring leadership challenges that require good judgment action
- An opportunity for case team coaches to have their case study teaching techniques honed in a custom designed master class
Two cases will be featured. First, there is a mixed collaborative team case where MBA students work with colleagues from multiple business schools. Second, the main case, which involves intact teams from Canadian business schools, allows for live interaction with the case protagonist. Both cases are written specifically for the LCC.
Our ambition is to build this case competition into a premier leadership event for students that showcases the best of Canadian leadership and assists to make it even better. To accomplish this, we are inviting MBA teams to collaborate and compete with each other over two and a half days. A monetary prize will be awarded to the winning team.
