Do I get an Ivey MBA or an AMBA degree?

You will graduate with an Ivey MBA degree, there is no separate designation.

How much is tuition for the Program?

AMBA tuition is 60% of the MBA tuition, or $45,500 for entry in July 2013.

Do I need to have a faculty reference?

Yes, one of your former HBA 1 core professors (ideally your Section Head) must provide one of your two references. This professor does not need to fill out the official reference form. Instead, they are required to send an email to mbareference@ivey.ca on your behalf.

Do I have to choose an elective stream, or can I pick a broad array of courses?
The choice is yours. The elective sets have been designed to provide our grads with the skill-set demanded by the industries typically pursued by Ivey MBAs. However, if you prefer to take a general assortment of electives, this option is available.
Am I able to take courses that I took in HBA?

No. The AMBA curriculum is designed to build on the core knowledge you already obtained during your HBA years at Ivey and bring you up to the MBA level. Please view this list of anti-requisite courses (PDF).

If recruiting happens early in the term, will I be ready?
Absolutely. We’ve been running an accelerated version of our MBA Program exclusively for Ivey HBA grads since 1940 and students from this Program have a long track record of success. Our Career Management team (CM) is involved in MBA Admissions and will spend the first week of your time at Ivey working exclusively with AMBA students. Additionally, the CM team is available throughout the remainder of your time at Ivey to help you achieve your career goals.
Who are considered “recent” HBA grads?

Recent HBA grads are those who have graduated from the Ivey HBA Program within the past 6 years.

Can I start the program right after I finish my HBA?
No. As per admissions requirements for the full-time MBA program, AMBA applicants are also required to have a minimum of two years, full-time work experience before applying to the program.
What is involved in the Major Research Project? Is it mandatory?
The research project is a mandatory component of the AMBA program that presents opportunity for students to develop their expertise in a professional area of interest, while rounding out their skill-set with applied business research skills not typically covered during the HBA. Learn more.
