TIAW
names Carol Stephenson to global 100
list
LONDON,
ON, October 19, 2009 - Lauded for
her efforts to advance women in both
their education and careers, Carol
Stephenson, Dean, Richard Ivey School of
Business, today will receive an award
from The International Alliance for
Women.
Stephenson
is one of 20 Canadian women named to The
International Alliance for Women (TIAW)
"World of Difference 100 list", which
recognizes unsung heroes who have
championed for gains on behalf of women.
The awards will be presented tonight at
a ceremony at Le Meridien King Edward
Hotel in Toronto.
TIAW, a
global umbrella organization whose
members support programs that foster the
economic empowerment and advancement of
women, honours up to 100 recipients each
year in categories such as public
service/government,
corporate/entrepreneurial and community.
Stephenson is a recipient in the
corporate/education category.
"It's an
honour to be included in this worldwide
group of women," said Carol Stephenson,
Dean, Richard Ivey School of Business.
"One of my missions at Ivey is to
increase the exposure of young women to
the world of business. There are so many
high-quality women with a lot of
talent."
Eric Morse,
Associate Dean of Programs at Ivey, said
Stephenson works hard to inspire the
next generation of business leaders so
there will be future role models for
both young women and men.
"Through
such efforts, and her own career
successes and community work, she is
inspiring talented businesswomen to
contribute to the growth of their
organizations, their communities and the
economy," he said. "We are pleased her
contributions are being recognized."
Stephenson
has already been recognized for
inspiring women. She has previously been
named one of Canada's Top 100 Most
Powerful Women, Woman of the Year by the
Canadian Women in Communications
Association, and a Woman of Distinction
by the YWCA.
