With three winning entries among a new crop of cases on Indian companies announced last weekend, the Richard Ivey School of Business celebrates its continued success as the world’s largest producer of Asian business cases. Ivey and Indian School of Business (ISB) honoured winners of the ISB-Ivey Case Competition 2011 on August 27 during the 23rd AIMS Convention 2011 in Bhubaneswar, India, with the top three champions taking home cash prizes of Rs 100,000 (CAD $2,127) and Rs 75,000 (CAD $1,595) (tie for second place). Faculty from IIM Bangalore took first place and second prize went to faculty from three institutions, Vishwa Vishwani Institute of Systems and Management, XLRI, Jamshedpur and K. J. Somaiya Institute of Management.

Otium has already negotiated a partnership with Athleague, a growing web-based commission for intramural leagues. The target market is university intramural athletes on Canadian and American campuses.

Ever since cigarette advertisements were banned in Canada in 1988, there has been controversy about the content of advertisements for products associated with other “risky behaviors” such as gambling, alcohol and fast food. An important issue for Canadian public policy makers is what should be allowed to go in the ads for these types of products. In a new Ivey School of Business research paper into consumer behavior, once a person’s ability to resist temptation has run out, they can become susceptible to advertising for other addictive products.
