Monthly Comment Professor Michiel R. Leenders Director of the Ivey Purchasing Managers Index
The Ivey Purchasing Managers Index (seasonally adjusted) by the end of January 2012 stood at 64.1. The corresponding figure for January 2011 was 46.8 and for January 2010 was 57.4.
The Employment index (seasonally adjusted) for January stood at 55.2, Inventories (seasonally adjusted) 57.0, Supplier Deliveries (seasonally adjusted) were 41.9 and Prices (seasonally adjusted) were 65.0.
The Ivey PMI unadjusted data for the month of January is 55.7, Employment 50.0, Inventories 53.9, Supplier Deliveries 40.2 and Prices 68.3.
The Ivey Purchasing Managers Index shows responses to one question: "Were your purchases last month in dollars higher, the same, or lower than the previous month?"
A figure above 50 shows an increase while below 50 shows a decrease.
