On August 5th, the MBA class welcomed former Rouge Valley Health System (RVHS) CEO Rik Ganderton to share his insights on the RVHS transformation.
Kathryn Tang, MBA '17, wrote a blog for the the Ian O. Ihnatowycz Institute for Leadership, reflecting on Ganderton's talk. She pulls lessons from his experience as CEO, where in 2006 he was tasked with turning around RVHS which held a $12-million deficit and was at the brink of bankruptcy.
Tang discusses the root of the problem: the organizational culture.
"From Rik Ganderton's journey, we learned that cultural norms can have a drastic impact on the financial performance of an organization," she says.
