December 4 update: An additional link has been added to include a Maclean's piece on the efforts of Louise Métivier, Canada’s Chief Negotiator for Climate Change.

As Prime Minister Justin Trudeau prepares for the climate conference in Paris, France next week, he and the Liberal government find themselves under significant pressure to make real change towards the plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions.

Professor Paul Boothe, former deputy minister at Environment Canada, shared with Maclean’s his outlook concerning Trudeau’s promise for real climate change.

“What I think they need to do when they’re in Paris is be clear that they are going to take significant action,” said Boothe. “The thing that we’re short of is credibility, not ambition.”
