Homecoming 2015: A blast in purple and green!

Homecoming

Student volunteers helped Homecoming guests get acquainted with the Richard Ivey Building

If you look at Ivey Homecoming 2015 by the numbers, it was a great success: Approximately 1,000 returned to the School, and more than $1.4 million was raised by reunion classes to commemorate their milestones.

And if you consider Homecoming for what it meant to those 1,000 attendees – it was an equally awesome event.

Alumni from across the country (and the world) gathered at Ivey to reconnect, reminisce and get reacquainted with their classmates and the School. Here are some of the highlights from Ivey Homecoming 2015.

  • The Richard G. Ivey Speaker Series with Doug Murphy, HBA ’85, President and CEO of Corus Entertainment, as our keynote speaker on Friday, September 25;
  • Our Open House on Saturday, September 26, where about 100 student volunteers were on hand to welcome alumni, give them a tour of our impressive facility, and talk about their own Ivey experience;
  • Classmates reunited at various venues around the city – from formal cocktail receptions to casual house parties – later that evening; and
  • The time-honoured Golden Alumni Lunch drew around 50 alumni and guests to the Brock Pavilion on Sunday, September 27 and was the perfect end to a memory-filled weekend.

Recognizing those who have made a difference

A major event at Homecoming was the introduction of this year’s Ivey Distinguished Service Award recipients: Andy Chisholm, MBA ’85; Alexa Nick, MBA ’95; and Rob Staffen, HBA ’80, MBA ’02; and also the Alumni Faculty Service Award recipient: Professor Gerard Seijts.

And if you’re looking to be part of next year’s success, mark your calendars now. Homecoming 2016 is Sept. 30-Oct. 2, 2016.
