LONDON, ON – August 31, 2016 – The Ivey Business School today announced Assistant Professor Mike Moffatt, PhD ’12, will become Interim Director of the Lawrence National Centre for Policy and Management, effective September 1. He succeeds Professor Paul Boothe, BA ’76, who is retiring after leading the Lawrence Centre for the past four years.

Under Boothe’s stewardship, the Lawrence Centre’s research has identified both the ways and the means to rebuild and revitalize Canada’s diverse manufacturing sector. With the Future of Manufacturing project, Paul brought industry leaders, government and academics together to recharge manufacturing in the wake of the financial crisis. He also developed and delivered executive education courses aimed at senior civil servants and authored a number of cases studies. Paul has also been an active media commentator consistently demonstrating thought leadership in the area of public policy. He will continue in the public policy sphere heading up the Trillium Network for Advanced Manufacturing based in London.

Moffatt’s role will be to review the Centre’s research priorities and develop its long-term strategic vision. His interests relate to the intersection of societal issues, public policy and economic growth. Moffatt is an Ivey PhD and an Assistant Professor in the Business Economics and Public Policy area group. He is a frequent media contributor both nationally and internationally, and has served as Chief Economist at the Mowat Centre, affiliated with the University of Toronto.
