LONDON - (September 18, 2018) – Diversity and the advancement of women in leadership positions is something every organization is trying to improve. The correlation between diversity and financial performance is clear across different industries and geographies: organizations that are more diverse in gender financially outperform their less diverse counterparts.

The Ivey Academy at Ivey Business School is pleased to announce the launch of an executive education program for high-level women business professionals. The Women in Leadership executive education program brings together women to enhance their leadership capabilities and gain greater influence and authority within their organizations.

The Women in Leadership program is The Ivey Academy’s first significant addition to its Leadership Suite of executive education programs in more than five years. In this program, women executives will learn together, share experiences, and discuss elements of leadership that may be difficult to explore in a typical work setting. Insights around gender, diversity, inclusion, and implications for leadership are all discussed in this program. The systems and organizational cultures that create leadership issues and the tools needed to shift these mechanisms in order to empower women and affect change are explored in detail. The program will also include personalized, one-on-one coaching for participants – both during and after the program itself to help reinforce learnings and provide ongoing feedback. The subject matter is industry-neutral, and ideal for women pursuing Director, VP, or CEO roles.

“When women executives learn together, they explore elements of their own leadership that may be difficult to see and develop in typical organizational systems. Together, they raise new questions and challenge their own assumptions about leadership, and at the same time reaffirm commitment to ambition and impact. It’s incredibly energizing and empowering!” said Martha Maznevski, Faculty Director, Women in Leadership.

“We are fortunate to have Martha Maznevski build and lead this program for us. Professor Maznevski brings two decades of renowned field research and deep experience working with senior executives on diversity to the program design. This is a big hill to climb in Canada, and we are confident this program will help,” added The Ivey Academy’s Executive Director, Mark Healy

The program builds on an existing customized Women in Leadership program for one of the Ivey Academy’s corporate partners and clients, Maple Leaf Foods. Launched in early 2018, Maple Leaf Foods’ Women in Leadership program is part of a broader effort to support MLF’s goal of gender diversity at the manager level.

This annual, four-day residential program is delivered in London, Ontario at the Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre. The first iteration of the program will run April 23 – 26, 2019.
