The London Chamber of Commerce and The Ivey Academy at the Ivey Business School have established a partnership to develop leadership talent within the London, Ontario business community.

The Chamber and The Ivey Academy are jointly delivering two half-day executive education workshops to align contemporary business school education with the leadership skills the local London business community needs to thrive and grow.

“The old maxim – two heads are better than one – is clearly applicable in this joint effort to foster new leaders in London’s business community. And it can be argued with equal precision that two brands are better than one. The London Chamber of Commerce and the Ivey School of Business are two brands well documented as leaders in their respective fields,” said Gerry Macartney, CEO of the London Chamber of Commerce.

“I can think of no better way to help deliver leading edge professional development opportunities to our members than this alliance with The Ivey Academy. For an extraordinarily modest investment, entrepreneurs and business professionals from all sectors can take advantage of this unique opportunity to focus on enhancing leadership skills through communications as well as team and talent development,” added Macartney.

These half-day workshops will be offered here in London, to both Chamber members and the public.

The first workshop, titled “Leadership Presence & Communication: Using Influence to Lead,” is focused on engaging and influencing people to action. Through a series of simulations and exercises, participants will get hands-on experience mastering “difficult” negotiations, giving and receiving feedback, optimizing team communication, and projecting a high-impact leadership presence within their organization. Leadership Presence & Communication will be delivered from 8 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2019.

The second workshop, titled “Coaching Your Team: Inspiring Others for High Performance,” will help participants master effective ways to lead, influence, and motivate their team. This accelerated workshop on team and talent development will help participants get the most out of their direct reports by building a deeper understanding of individual motivations and learning how to get commitment from team members. Coaching Your Team will be delivered from 8 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2019.

“These accelerated, intensive workshops afford members the opportunity to truly amp up their game at costs they really cannot afford to ignore. Having the opportunity to partner with the Ivey School of Business, one of the most revered and highly respected learning institutions on the planet, is something the Chamber has long coveted and sets the bar at a much higher level when it comes to member offerings,” said Macartney.

“London has been our home since 1922. We are proud to be part of this vibrant business community, and to invest in our backyard,” added Mark Healy, Executive Director of The Ivey Academy. “We believe strongly in the work of The London Chamber of Commerce, and we can help. Gerry is passionate about his members and the potential in this community. It’s easy to get behind his leadership.”

Both workshops will be delivered at the London Chamber of Commerce Meeting Centre in London, Ontario. The cost for Chamber members is $50 +HST for one workshop or $80 +HST for both workshops. The price for non-members is $75 +HST for one workshop or $120 +HST for both workshops. To learn more and to register for each session, click here and then click on the events tab.
