Open House Event Schedule

Parking is complimentary and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis in the Elborn College Lot, Springett Lot, and Visitor Lot on the south side of the Ivey Business School (1255 Western Road, located between Sarnia Road and Brescia Lane or north of Sarnia Road, but south of Lambton Road).

9:00 a.m. | Registration & Welcome Breakfast

Register in the Grand Hall and enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast while catching up with classmates. Your registration includes your choice of Critical Issue sessions, the Dean’s Welcome & Alumni Address, and lunch.

9:30 a.m. | Ivey Pledge Ceremony
Over 13,000 alumni have participated in the Ivey Pledge Ceremony and Ring Tradition since its introduction by the Ivey Alumni Network in 2004. This event provides Ivey alumni with the opportunity to recite - or recommit to - the Ivey Pledge to act honourably and ethically, and receive a unique, individually numbered Ivey Ring after doing so. Advance registration and payment are required.

10:00 a.m. | Ivey Next: Conversations about Critical Issues

Join one of two concurrent sessions led by faculty discussing Global Citizenship, Competitiveness and Innovation, or the Evolution of Work. Profs will present cutting-edge research being done in the space, why it matters, and how you can help shape the discussion. Alumni will walk away with much to consider and discuss!

Evolution of Work

We understand it's difficult to manage the challenging dynamics of today's workplace, and the uncertainty that comes with change can be overwhelming. Whatever the future, we know it will have more variability, more interconnections, and more data and information. In this session, we’ll share some of Ivey’s leading-edge research in these areas, then we’ll turn to your current experiences and ideas about the future. Together, we’ll set an agenda for collaborating to prepare us all for the Evolution of Work.

Global Citizenship, Competitiveness and Innovation

Developing a global mindset has been a hallmark of success for the most advanced companies and nations. In this session, Ivey's thought leaders will share how they're helping to pave the future for firms to compete in the ever-changing global marketplace. We look forward to learning from each other as to how we as a community can continue to succeed on a global scale.

Join faculty, friends and classmates as Ivey’s Dean Sharon Hodgson welcomes you back to Ivey! She will share a few remarks and present this year’s Distinguished Service and Faculty Service award recipients in Ivey’s BMO Financial Group Auditorium.

1:30 p.m. | Ivey Next: Conversations about Critical Issues & optional Alumni Sustainability Community discussion

Join a faculty led session highlighting Sustainability. Some of Ivey’s leading sustainability faculty will present cutting-edge work being done in this space, why it matters, and then lead the group in discussions. Alumni will walk away with much to consider and discuss!

After the session, alumni are invited to stay for 30 minutes to participate in a focus group about the new alumni Sustainability Community, launching this fall in partnership with the Ivey Alumni Network (IAN).  We’d like to hear from you on what activities, resources, content, etc. will maximize the value of the Community.

1:30 p.m. | Ivey Academy Interactive Session — Leadership as Practice — examine and expand your repertoire of action and response

Developing awareness of what we embody as leaders is key to understanding how we make conscious leadership choices that create working cultures that align with our values and goals. In this lively, action-based, on-your-feet session, we will discover embodied practices that can help us recognize our default habits as leaders, and think about leadership from a different perspective. We will explore an expanded range of leadership responses supporting productive collaboration and co-creative outcomes.

This 90 minute session will be led by Shannon Litzenberger and Mazi Raz, MBA '05, PhD '14, Assistant Professor, Ivey Business School.
