Dedicated Ivey supporters, Laura Hantho, MBA ’89 and Jon Hantho, MBA ’89, recently made a gift of $500,000 to establish The Jon and Laura Hantho Family Foundation MBA Scholarship. This academic scholarship will be given to a full-time student entering the MBA program based on their leadership character and entrepreneurial ambition.
Ivey’s MBA strategy continues to focus on quality versus overall class size and financial support is critical to recruiting top quality candidates. “It is our belief that scholarships play a vital role in attracting exceptional students to Ivey who will contribute as future leaders and entrepreneurs,” Laura and Jon said. Their donation will be matched with an incremental $100,000 through The Ivey MBA Scholarship Match Fund resulting in a $20,000/year scholarship in perpetuity.
Jon and Laura reside in Toronto where Jon is President and CEO at Maxxam and Laura serves on several boards. “We are deeply grateful for our Ivey experience and the career opportunities it opened up for us both.”
Both Jon and Laura are members of the Ivey Business School Advisory Board and Laura serves as an Executive-in-Residence at the School. The Hanthos celebrated their 25th reunion last year and were part of the reunion planning committee. Laura was also a class leader for the MBA ’89 reunion giving campaign.
Through their commitment of time and total financial contribution of over $600,000, the Hanthos’ will continue to make a significant impact on current and future Ivey students.
