Why did you decide to do an Executive MBA?

I decided to complete an MBA because it was something I always had an interest in completing but was advised that you can benefit more from the program if you enter the workforce first and complete it later in your career. I also thought it would be a great complement to my CPA CA and would open more doors than just those in accounting or finance areas. As I progressed through my career I was looking to alter its direction to expand into different aspects of business and leadership beyond my accounting designation.

Why did you choose Ivey?

I chose Ivey because I had several esteemed colleagues who had also chosen Ivey and were extremely satisfied with the learning and networking experience. Ivey has a strong international presence and reputable brand name and I thought the experience of the international Executive Client Field Project was invaluable. Also, the mission (to develop business leaders who think globally, act strategically and contribute to the communities in which they operate) spoke to me and the direction I was aiming for with my career long term.

What benefits have you seen so far in your career?

The benefits of completing an Ivey MBA can be so subtle and so significant all at the same time. Throughout the program you already notice the subtle changes taking place in the way you think and analyze, your ability to make better and faster decisions and your style as a leader. My Director in my current role noted that it made me the leader I would have become but 5 years earlier. I changed roles twice within my organization over the course of the program. One of the most significant benefits of completing the program is the network of other Ivey Alumni you build along the way, including the connections you form with your fellow classmates. Class discussions are extremely elevated by the depth brought by the collective experiences of classmates as well as the lifelong friendships you make.
