Winner, 2023 Best Paper Award, AOM IM Division

Congratulations to Vanessa Hasse who won the 2023 Best Paper Award in OB/HRM/OT from the Academy of Management’s International Management Division, along with co-authors, Arthur Li, PhD '21, (Toronto Metropolitan University) and Marketa Rickley (University of North Carolina). 


Canada's top Business and Management scientists recognition by Research.com

For the second year in a row, five Ivey professors, including two from international business, have been recognized as Canada's top Business and Management scientists by Research.com.

Paul Beamish, HBA ’76, PhD ’84; Klaus Meyer; Rob Klassen, MBA ’89; Simon Parker; and Tima Bansal were among the top 40 in Canada and Beamish was also recognized with Research.com’s Business and Management in Canada Leader Award for 2023.

The site ranked the top 1% of academic researchers based on publications, citations and h-index, which evaluates the cumulative impact of an author’s scholarly output over the course of their career.

The Ivey International Business professors named on the ranking are:

  • Professor Paul Beamish, HBA ’76, PhD ’84: #3 in Canada and #79 in the world
    • Paul Beamish is a professor of International Business and General Management, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and a Fellow of the Academy of International Business
  • Professor Klaus Meyer: #14 in Canada and #279 in the world
    • Klaus Meyer is a professor of International Business and the William G. Davis Chair in International Trade

Winner, AOM IM Division Best Dissertation Award 

Congratulations to Liang (Arthur) Li (PhD 2021) as well as Paul Beamish and Andreas Schotter (co-supervisors). Arthur's thesis "General Manager Succession in Multinational Enterprise Subsidiaries" was the winner of AOM's D'Amore-McKim Best Dissertation Award, awarded at the 2022 Academy of Management Conference held August 5-9, 2022 in Seattle, Washington.


John H. Dunning AIB President's Award

Paul Beamish was awarded the John H. Dunning Academy of International Business (AIB) President’s Award at the 2022 AIB annual meeting in Miami FL. The award is given out periodically based on merit and recognizes outstanding service to AIB and the field of international business. Read the full Ivey News story about this award here.


Canada's top Business and Management scientists recognition by Research.com

Five Ivey professors, including two from international business, have been recognized as Canada's top Business and Management scientists by Research.com.

The site ranked the top 1% of academic researchers based on publications, citations and h-index, which evaluates the cumulative impact of an author’s scholarly output over the course of their career.

The Ivey International Business professors named on the ranking are:

  • Professor Paul Beamish, HBA ’76, PhD ’84, International Business & General Management, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. Beamish’s work is in the areas of international management, strategic management, and joint ventures and alliances;
  • Professor Klaus Meyer, International Business, and the William G. Davis Chair in International Trade. Meyer’s work investigates the strategies of multinational enterprises in and from emerging economies.

The Research.com list is comprised of leading scientists from the area of Business and Management, and based on an examination of more than 5972 scientists on Google Scholar and Microsoft Academic Graph as of December 2021.

Western Strategic Support for SSHRC Success program

Vanessa Hasse was one of two Ivey winners in the competitive Western Strategic Support for SSHRC Success program. Vanessa’s proposal was titled “Cultural differences in corporate responses to performance-impacting events”.

 

Outstanding Contribution to the Case Method Award - The Case Center 

Ivey professor, Paul Beamish, received the Outstanding Contribution to the Case Method Award by The Case Center. The award recognizes excellence in case method teaching and case writing.

Beamish is well-known as a prolific academic researcher and is the director of Ivey's International Business Institute. He has also published 150 business cases with associated teaching notes. Some 100 of his cases have been translated into one or more languages, and over 3.5 million copies of his cases have been studied worldwide. In 2010, Beamish founded the 39 Country Initiative that works to increase case teaching in the world’s 39 most disadvantaged countries.
