Why Ivey?

The opportunity to pursue a dual degree drew me to the school immediately; I am able to combine my passion for the media landscape with a pragmatic and engaging business education.

Everyone in your class brings something different to the table. I learned early on to appreciate and value the uniqueness of my peers; they are interesting to be with both in and out of the classroom!

What has one highlight of your Ivey Experience been so far?

Do you know that frustrated feeling that you get when you just don't understand something? You look at it from different angles and right when you think that you have done everything you could, you figure it out. I experienced this way of learning nearly every day at Ivey. Today, it's really cool to look back and see everything that I have learned. I’m surprised by how much I know every time I raise my hand and say something in class. It makes all of the hard work worth it.

What advice do you have for incoming HBA students?

Slow down, and enjoy every day! As students, we are always looking forward to something; to the weekend, to the end of midterms or exams, to sleep. However, by doing so, we miss out on the things that are right in front of us. At Ivey, there is always something going on. Don't wish away your Ivey experience!

How has Ivey’s Career Management set you up for success?

I was never sure about my professional presence before HBA1. I worried about my resume and what exactly was included in a cover letter. Ivey's Career Management gave me the tools necessary to present myself in a way that was authentically me, but that would also be well-received by employers and colleagues. What they truly build is the confidence you need to make strides in your career.

With the intense curriculum in HBA1, what support is available for students?

The HBA1 curriculum is dynamic and fast-paced, and that can be hard sometimes. For academic support, there are dedicated people and services ready to help in adjusting to the demanding nature of the program—HBA Services and Career Management are great for that.
