On November 13th 2018, Ivey Health’s Executive Director David Barrett was a featured presenter at the World Innovation Summit for Health in Doha, Qatar. He was an advisory board member for the paper he presented that was written by Naar et. al (2018).
The paper, The Human Centered Health System demonstrates how Human Centered Design Thinking can be applied in a healthcare setting. This approach has been shown to improve outcomes for patients, lower costs and improve efficiency of care, and create a more enjoyable healthcare experience for patients and care providers. The report offers an overview of the efficacy, models and methods used by designers in healthcare. It includes examples of how design has helped address major healthcare challenges facing policymakers. Finally, this report provides recommendations for implementing design across the healthcare ecosystem.
The World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) gathers around 2000 healthcare experts, entrepreneurs, innovators, ministers, and policy makers from around the globe to achieve the goal of a healthier world.
