Michael joined the Lawrence Centre in August 2018 as a Visiting Fellow.
Michael’s extensive career in the public service included senior executive roles such as Ontario Deputy Minister, Chief Administrator in Hamilton and Burlington, and founding CEO of both Toronto/Hamilton regional transportation authority Metrolinx and GTA regional health authority Mississauga Halton LHIN.
He has researched and written extensively on infrastructure and public policy issues including healthcare services delivery. His recent publications include: the impact of megatrends on the future of Canada’s infrastructure, reducing the regulatory burdens facing local business, evaluation of public-private partnerships in building Ontario infrastructure, role of technology committees in board governance and reform of Ontario’s water and wastewater system.
Michael is currently a Senior Advisor at StrategyCorp. He is a Board Director with OMERS Administration Corporation pension fund and the Toronto Lands Corporation, the realty arm of the Toronto District School Board. He serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of Canadian Government Executive magazine. He is the recipient of the Lieutenant Governor’s Medal of Distinction in Public Administration for Ontario.
