It’s hard to believe our new cohort will be here in just a few weeks, with classes beginning on April 2nd! We are in the process of reviewing applications from our last deadline and we are still receiving requests from candidates who would like to submit an application and are wondering if it’s too late. In short? No! You are welcome to submit an application at any time as Ivey works on the basis of rolling admissions. But, take a look at these FAQs first:

What does ‘rolling admissions’ mean?

Rolling admissions means that we don’t hold our review of applications until an application deadline date. As soon as an application comes in, we start to review and process it right away. The same process applies after our Round 3 ‘deadline’ has passed – we will continue to accept applications until our class has filled as Ivey works on the basis of quality applications, not quotas. That said, it’s important for candidates to take into consideration the time for our review of your application, an admissions interview (if invited), and the final decision of the admissions committee. Additionally, ensuring that you have financing secured and can make a graceful exit from your employer in a short amount of time.

Then what’s the point of deadlines?

People tend to be more proactive when they have a deadline to work towards! This also gives our team an idea of when we can expect a higher volume of applications and allows candidates to plan their applications around decision deadlines with other schools.

Are my chances of admission diminished because I am applying late?

Absolutely not. As mentioned above, we work on the basis of quality applications, not quotas. We don’t have set targets for each round, and are always willing to make room for the best talent. Our standards for admission are competitive and we are not about filling seats with just anyone. We know the quality of candidates that we’re looking for and if you’re the right fit for us, it doesn’t matter when your application comes in!

I’m planning to rewrite the GMAT (or haven’t written it yet). Can I still apply?
Yes, you can still submit an application. However, your application will not be considered ‘complete’ until we have an unofficial GMAT score. There’s no ‘cut-off’ date for when you can submit a GMAT but keep in mind the timelines and to-do list above. And, we only consider your highest score so if you are planning to rewrite just indicate that on your application; we can start an initial review and hold-off on any final decisions until a new score is received. If you’ve got questions about your GMAT timeline, please contact us at mba@ivey.ca to speak with a Recruiting Manager.

When will applications open for April 2015?

You are welcome to start filling out your application for 2015 as soon as you like! New essay questions will be posted mid-February and our early bird application deadline is May 5, 2014.
