Why did you decide to do an MBA?

Having worked in Sales and Operations roles at a CPG firm over the past 4 and a half years, there were certain parts of my jobs I realized I enjoyed most and wanted to do more of - namely taking on high-impact transformational projects that involve various key stakeholders. I had learned a lot in my time with this firm but I was at a point in my career where I wanted to take on different types of challenges in other industries so that I can continue my personal and career growth. The MBA program was the right solution for that kind of pivot.

What is the most significant thing you've learned at Ivey?

I've learned lots at Ivey but I think what has stuck with me the most is the ability to look at real-life business problems through a complete systems lens. Thanks to the variety of courses we take during the MBA program through the case method learning, we've become adept at examining all aspects of a firm's challenges and how they might interact with one another - often times it takes a combination of solutions to create long-lasting positive change at a firm!

What's been the most surprising aspect of the Ivey MBA journey to date?

I've been genuinely surprised at the level of engagement our professors and lecturers have had with our cohort! Nearly every single one of them has been invested in our experience at Ivey and our long-term success.

What books are on your bedside table AND/OR what podcast are you listing to right now?

Book on my bedside table: Developing Leadership Character by Crossan, Seijts, and Gandz (book to prepare us for the upcoming Leadership Under Fire course).

Podcasts/Audiobooks: listening to Sustainability, Inc. by BCG & FORTUNE Brand Studio and Becoming by Michelle Obama on my longer drives.

How do you manage stress (i.e. sports, exercise, meditation etc.)?

For me, playing team sports on a weekly basis puts me in the best mood. It's a great way to really disconnect from day-to-day responsibilities that may be causing me stress!

Otherwise, making time regularly to grab drinks or food with friends or my partner reminds me that I'm never alone in my endeavours!
