After completing my commerce undergraduate degree, I began my career in financial services. I started in back office operations for mutual and hedge funds where I learned the basics of the finance industry. After achieving mastery in my roles, I progressed towards more analytical roles in middle office positions for pension funds and banks. This allowed me to understand more about investment processes in explaining the drivers of profit and loss. I eventually led teams and undertook projects aimed at process improvements and custom reporting. During this time, I completed the CFA program to round out my practical skills. I decided to pursue an MBA to develop the decision-making skills necessary to becoming an effective leader.

Choosing the right MBA program was by no means an easy task. There were several factors that needed to be considered, some of which included program duration, school reputation, tuition, and employment statistics. However, after narrowing my choices down to a few schools, there was one intangible factor that drew me to Ivey. It was the ‘polish’ of Ivey that I felt through all my interactions with the admissions team, alumni, and faculty that led me to the realization that Ivey was the program with the best fit for me. Everything from information sessions, networking dinners, and class visits went off without a hitch, and I was blown away by the calibre of the individuals I interacted with.

My message for potential students would be that the year spent in the program will be tough and fast-paced. Ivey will take you out of your comfort zone and help you realize your true potential to advance your career to the next level. My experience thus far in the program has been extremely rewarding and I can confidently say that Ivey will truly deliver a unique experience that will transform me both personally and professionally.
