Ivey MSc 2017's, 2018's & CEMS-Exchange End of term!

The end of April brings about many new beginnings for our Ivey MSc students. Our class of 2017 students' are done! They have finished their 16 months at Ivey and are on to the next chapter of their lives, many starting their careers in the coming weeks! For our 2018's they have officially completed their first term in the program, time sure flies. Now our students will move forward to their Lab placements for the summer, and many others onto their CEMS exchange terms. In this month's blog, MSc IB student Priya shares her first term in the MSc program, as she gets ready for her Ivey Global Lab.

My name is Priya, and I am an MSc International Business student from the Class of 2018! We are coming to the end of our first term here at Ivey and the MSc 2017's are getting ready to graduate and start their careers! Those of us in the International Business and CEMS streams are getting ready to fly out to our IGL (Ivey Global Lab) locations, and the Business Analytics students are getting ready for their IAL (Ivey Analytic's Lab) at various companies in London and Toronto.

Throughout the semester we have had many guest speakers and workshops that allowed us to build on our networking, leadership and analytics skills. Though our program requires a lot of readings and research we still make time for some fun! We have planned many potlucks, movie nights and night outs over the last 4 months. The entire MSc community from the staff to faculty to the graduating class has made me feel welcome and at home.

Ladies of the Ivey MSc Potluck!

I myself will be interning as a consultant for Industree Crafts, a company based in Bangalore India, that strives to help women sustain themselves through the production of crafts. I will be working on a marketing project with two other students over the next 10 weeks. This internship gives us the opportunity to put our skills to use and to gain new experience working in an international setting. In my undergrad, I studied in Guadalajara, Mexico at Universidad Tec de Monterrey for one year. This experience helped me to learn to adapt to new cultures, understand the Mexican business market as well as meet many mentors along the way. I am a strong believer in learning through travel. I have been to 22 countries so far and I can’t wait to travel the world!

Ivey Global Lab (IGL) Training!

I along with 12 other students have planned our own pre-trip before our Internships in India begin on May 15. We will be flying out of Toronto in early May to begin our adventure! This trip has taken a lot of time and effort to plan so we are beyond excited! We will be visiting both historical and tourists sites such as the Taj Mahal and the Pink palace in Rajasthan. While in Bangalore, I will also be doing some personal non-profit work. I have been networking with the Save The Children office in India and am very excited to be working with them! It's time to wrap up this semester and get ready for a new adventure! I will be taking many pictures during to internship and will be posting them in future blogs and our Instagram account (@Iveymscstudentlife).

Next stop DEHLI, INDIA!
