MSc 2018, Ivey Business School
I've been fortunate to have had a plethora of experiences that have made me a well-rounded individual — from volunteer opportunities, to competitive sports, to work experiences. By adding the Ivey MSc, I not only found a way to apply what I've learned through those experiences in a collaborative environment, but I've also become a much more polished person.
First and foremost, Ivey offered the case method, which is a spectacular way to learn. I had done a few Ivey cases during my undergrad and had thoroughly enjoyed them and was excited by the opportunity to complete a degree that focused primarily on learning through the case method. In addition, the Ivey MSc offered a chance to work abroad and really put the theory into practice. Ivey values students that are well-rounded and leaders in their own right. With this in mind, Ivey was a perfect fit for me.
People at Ivey truly look out for one another. To outsiders, Ivey is often unfairly considered a place where people are conceited, stuck up, and only look out for themselves; however, this could not be further from the truth. People at Ivey are competitive, yes. However, this does not equate to selfish. Ivey students and faculty are truly willing to go the extra mile to help their peers, and this shows as the school continues to thrive.
Like any program or school, Ivey may not be the best fit for everyone. On the flip side, it may very well be the best thing that's ever happened to you. There isn't one particular personality type that thrives in this environment — everyone can. At Ivey, what you give is what you'll get out. The more immersed and involved you are in your program, the better your experience will be. From personal experience, I can honestly say that applying to Ivey was the best decision I've ever made!
