Bob Kennedy will be stepping down as Dean of the Ivey Business School, effective June 30, 2017, Janice Deakin, Western University’s Provost & Vice-President (Academic), announced today.

Kennedy has accepted an appointment as Dean of the Business School at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, an institution that ranks consistently among the world’s best young universities established less than 50 years ago.

Since joining Ivey in 2013, Kennedy has led several initiatives to maintain and strengthen Ivey’s position among Canada’s leading business schools, including a significant renewal of full-time faculty members, a focus on improving support for research within the School, and other strategies to increase Ivey’s global footprint and recognition.

Arrangements will be made for interim leadership of the School while a comprehensive international search is undertaken to recruit a new Dean for Ivey, said Deakin. The search process will be led by the Senate-appointed decanal selection committee that was recently constituted with representatives duly nominated and elected by the Ivey and Western communities, including two representatives from the Ivey Advisory Board.

“With the strength of Ivey’s programs and outstanding reputation for world-class teaching and research, Ivey is well positioned for continued success on the national and global stage,” Deakin said.
