Ivey students discover downtown London

Oct 16, 2018

A recent team-building exercise introduced more than 600 HBA1 students to London’s downtown core, in new and creative ways. The activity, organized by Conundrum, an organization founded and run by Lynn Ferguson-Pinet, HBA ’89, MBA ’93 and Matt Casey, HBA ’92, was part of a course called “Leading People and Organizations”.

Student teams were provided an iPad that led them through a series of tasks around the downtown core. This included solving puzzles, interacting with actors to solve a problem, making a rap music video, and a mock news broadcast.

“The exercise was designed to help students see the factors that influence team effectiveness,” said Ivey’s Karen MacMillan, one of four course instructors. “For instance, they could see how planning affected outcomes; the impact of performance spirals; and the importance of good will as a critical team outcome.”
