Amanda Philavong is a grant writing professional with experience in research, and is a proud Western University alumna, where she received her Master of Science degree (Geology) and Honours Bachelor of Science degree (Environmental Geoscience).
As a Research Officer, Amanda coordinates the design, implementation, and adjudication of internal funding and awards, including Ivey Research Base Funding, Additional Funding, Conference Funding, Case Writing Funding, Early Career Impact Awards, Research Merit Awards, Junior Faculty Fellowships and the Ivey Undergraduate Summer Research Internship stipend; and is responsible for facilitating faculty success in obtaining external research funds, from major sources such as CIHR, NSERC, and SSHRC, as well as industry sponsored programs including Mitacs.
She provides advice, guidance, problem-solving, and support to over a hundred Ivey faculty members during the development of grant and award proposals, and liaises with Western’s Research Services and Sponsor agencies to ensure research funding applications submitted by researchers conform to high submission standards, institutional and Sponsor policies and requirements. She also oversees the monitoring and distribution off funding and awards to faculty research accounts.
She also supports Ivey faculty through Western’s Ethics review process and oversees the collection, analysis, and high-level translation of quantitative and qualitative data related to Ivey's institutional research activities, research funding, and various institutional rankings.
