Welcome back to campus, MBA students!

Aug 10, 2020

Return to campus - Spencer

Although online classes will continue for all Ivey programs, we recognize the value of in-person experiences and have been adapting our campus facilities to provide students with a safe environment for study and social activities. For our return-to-campus series, we’ll take a look at what has changed at each site for Ivey’s programs. First in line is the Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre, which is the designated site for in-person programming and activities for our full-time MBA Program. Some of Ivey's MBA students were back to campus last week for a welcome session and on-campus classes began today.

An update on health and safety measures at the Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre

What you’ll see

  • Signage in all areas;
  • Plexiglass shields on reception desks and service stations and in classrooms;
  • Sanitizer stations and dispensers located throughout the facility;
  • New layouts of furniture in meeting rooms and classrooms to allow for physical distancing of two metres apart; and,
  • Additional exterior furniture on the grounds to provide rest areas.

What’s different

  • Staff at Dolce by Wyndham Hotels, the hotel group that runs the Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre, are required to pass a daily health assessment before beginning their shifts, including a temperature check;
  • There is frequent cleaning and disinfecting of high-traffic areas using EPA-approved disinfectants;
  • Dolce by Wyndham Hotels staff at the facility have had training on how to operate and provide a health-and safety-focused service in the COVID-19 environment. The brand promise is Count on us to put safety first;
  • To accommodate physical distancing, Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre is operating at approximately 20-per-cent capacity;
  • Asher’s Dining Room has had the glazed partitions removed to provide a larger area to accommodate up to 40 people with physical distancing;
  • Instead of buffets, all food and beverage offerings will be individualized;
  • The north and south wings of the building have been segregated; and,
  • The facility is closed to transient guests while students are on the premises.

Rules and regulations

  • Masks/face coverings are required in all shared spaces at the Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre;
  • Practise physical distancing. When possible, stay two metres apart.

Other reminders

“Physical distancing and personal protective equipment are key for the success of the fall term.”
