Why did you decide to do an MBA?

An MBA was the next logical step in my career progression. I had a high level of technical expertise and it was time to decide whether I wanted to pursue further technical expertise or enhance my managerial knowledge. Ultimately, I decided management was better suited to my temperament.

What is the most significant thing you've learned at Ivey?

Management intuition permeates all the subjects that we learn at Ivey and will deal with as managers. As an engineer I was excited for the analytical courses as it would allow me to dig deep into the numbers only to realize that the big picture and the managerial approach is more important than the nitty gritty math.

What's been the most surprising aspect of the Ivey MBA journey to date?

The "fun-ness" of the intensity and fun of the program. It's hard to describe but the most fun I've had is during the 24 hour reports. The fact that we're all stuck in a room trying to achieve something in a short amount of time has been a lot of fun.
Describe the roll you play professionaly:
Towards the end of my career i played the role of a stakeholder manager. Making sure everyone got what they wanted, when they wanted it, for the cost that they wanted.
What is the most challenging aspect of your job?
People are fickle and their priorities change. Sometime in the middle of your deliverable timeline.
What is your biggest professional accomplishment?
Managing a logistical nightmare moving equipment from one site to three others. I had to work with in environmental and budgetary constraints as well as stakeholder needs/wants.
What books are on your bedside table AND/OR what podcast are you listing to right now?
The Goal, Against the Gods, Genius Maker, The Dawn Of Everything: A New History Of Humanity
How do you manage stress (i.e. sports, exercise, meditation etc)?
Sports, time with family, outings with MBA Classmates
