January PMI

Monthly Comment from Professor P. Fraser Johnson
Director of the Ivey Purchasing Managers Index

The Ivey Purchasing Managers Index (seasonally adjusted) by the end of January 2015 stood at 45.4. The corresponding figure for January 2014 was 56.8 and for January 2013 was 58.9.

The Employment index (seasonally adjusted) for January stood at 50.0.  Inventories (seasonally adjusted) 46.4, Supplier Deliveries (seasonally adjusted) were 47.9 and Prices were 66.7.

The Ivey PMI unadjusted data for the month of January is 42.6, Employment 44.8, Inventories 45.4, Supplier Deliveries 46.1 and Prices 69.5.

The Ivey Purchasing Managers Index shows responses to one question: "Were your purchases last month in dollars higher, the same, or lower than the previous month?"

A figure above 50 shows an increase while below 50 shows a decrease.
