Roger is an experienced business leader and investor with a track record of delivering strong financial returns combined with improvements in sustainability. In January 2023 he co-founded Sojourner Consumer Partners with Rob DesMarais and Zach Johnson. Sojourner is a private equity firm seeking to invest in high-potential, consumer-branded companies in North America. The partners bring complementary business building and performance improvement capabilities to help portfolio companies accelerate their progress and realize their full potential.

Roger has 17 of years CEO experience leading both lager public and multiple private equity owned mid-market consumer companies. He partnered with Swander Pace Capital in 2004 to help the firm expand its geographic focus into Canada. Over the course of 14 years, Roger collaborated with SPC to acquire 18 companies and build and exit four successful platforms spanning: organic yogurt (Liberte); baked goods (Pineridge Bakery); eco-friendly cleaning products (Lavo) and household and automotive fluids (Recochem). He served as CEO of three of these platforms and a strategic operating partner of one. Prior to this, as President & CEO, Roger led a broad scale turnaround, renewal, and growth of Canada Bread Company.

Before that, Roger was a Partner at McKinsey & Company, where for 15 years he helped consumer and industrial clients in North America and around the world embark on new directions, lead organizational change, and improve operations.

Roger has a particular interest and skill set in applying sustainability disciplines in business and investing. He has employed Life Cycle Analysis to drive improvements in the businesses that he has led since 2005 - delivering both financial and sustainability improvements. Roger also manages a personal portfolio of public and private investments across multiple asset classes – with a thematic focus on sustainability. He serves as director for the Transition Accelerator (developing pathways to Net Zero) and is the former Chair of World Wildlife Fund Canada.

Roger has a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s University, Ontario (Canada) and an MBA from the Ivey Business School at Western University (Gold Medalist).
