Alex Bunyan

Alex Bunyan is an Executive Coach and Leadership Advisor with over 20 years of experience helping senior leaders and executive teams unlock clarity, purpose, and impact. Drawing on a diverse background in executive recruitment, leadership development, financial services, and retail, Alex brings a grounded, insightful presence to his coaching partnerships. 

Prior to founding Shift Co. (www.shiftco.ca) —his leadership coaching practice—Alex held senior roles in executive recruitment and retail, including serving as Head of Executive Recruitment at the Royal Bank of Canada. Over the course of his career, he has spent thousands of hours coaching, interviewing, assessing, and advising senior leaders and C-suite executives across industries such as financial services, professional services, retail, consumer goods, healthcare, and automotive. 

Alex partners with senior executives, emerging leaders, and teams navigating high-stakes transitions, organizational change, and leadership complexity. His work is grounded in evidence-based coaching practices and informed by tools such as the Hogan Assessment Suite and The Leadership Circle Profile, which he uses to generate deep insight and accelerate development. He brings particular expertise in onboarding and integration coaching, executive presence, leadership communication, and coaching people leaders at all stages of their careers. 

Alex holds an MBA from the Ivey Business School. He is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coaching Federation and a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) through the Co-Active Training Institute.
