Mingyi Hua is an Assistant Professor in Finance whose research explores the interrelationship between human societal changes and finance. Beyond tallying these effects, she seeks to uncover whether new phenomena bring about transformations which are fads or fundamental shifts. Mingyi has two broad research streams under this umbrella. First, at the intersection of digital economics and finance, she investigates how the human factor – through users – drives digital firms’ stock market outperformance, both historically and during recent crises. Second, in sustainable finance, she studies how the status quo, such as ESG scores and international ecological debt, can have unintended consequences on other market participants.
