While the Ontario government provides funding to help support social enterprises, Windsor may not reap the rewards. The majority of money goes to cities like London and Toronto and little makes its way to Windsor. As the city with the lowest unemployment rate in Canada as of January 2015, at 9.4 per cent, Windsor stands to benefit from program funding that works to create jobs and improve the community.

Ivey Associate Professor Oana Branzei looks at the impact of social enterprises, especially in struggling communities like Windsor. She spoke with The Windsor Star about the impact of the recession on cities like Windsor and the benefits of social enterprises on local economies.
