As Canada edges closer to the 2015 federal election, the Conservative, Liberal, and NDP parties have entered a new phase of campaigning. Breaking down each leader’s economic vision, Maclean’s looked at what all three leaders offer on taxes, spending, and Canada’s prospects for prosperity.

Professor Paul Boothe, Director of Ivey’s Lawrence National Centre for Policy and Management, voiced his concerns about current tax regimes and expressed the need for a serious overhaul of Canada’s tax laws.

“Tax systems collect barnacles just the way ships do. Every so often they need to be scraped down if we want them to be streamlined and fast in the water.”
